West Ashley area of Charleston SC

West of the Ashley is named by the Ashley River which runs south/west of Charleston. This is probably the first built up city after the pennisula of Charleston so it has many older neighborhoods with brick homes on large lots. Recently the outskirts have been developed bringing many newer homes to the area and easy access to Hwy 17 south to Beaufort. The Citadel mall is only one of two malls in the area along with some scattered areas of shopping throughout West Ashley. Easy access to downtown as West Ashley is still in the City of Charleston. Ravennel is the rural area surrounding West Ashley and has Stone Ferry which is an Equestian area with golf course also.
